作家プロフィール｜Profile


大阪市出身・在住。立命館大学文学部卒業。立命館大学大学院国際関係研究科修士課程修了。京都芸術大学(旧京都造形大)通信教育部写真コース中退。当店のほか、ギャラリーigu_m_art(大阪)、ギャラリー檜(東京)、Mango Art Company(台湾)などグループ展多数。2020年、当店にて個展。
Born and currently living in Osaka City. Graduated from the Faculty of Letters at Ritsumeikan University. Completed a Master's course at the Graduate School of International Relations at Ritsumeikan University. Dropped out of the photography course at the correspondence education department of Kyoto University of Arts (formerly Kyoto University of Art and Design). In addition to our gallery, she has participated in many group exhibitions at Gallery igu_m_art (Osaka), Gallery Hinoki (Tokyo), Mango Art Company (Taiwan), and others. In 2020, she held a solo exhibition at our gallery.

  • 主催者ごあいさつ｜From gallery

    寺西希実子は写真をメディアとして使う作家ですが、彼女が被写体として撮るのは自身の身体です。ただし、いわゆるセルフポートレートの作家と違って、その作品では身体の一部が接写され、拡大、画像処理を施されてプリントされます。長らく客体、被写体として扱われてきた女性の身体を、女性自身が撮り、しかも抽象芸術に作り直すという試みに、どうぞこの機会にご注目いただけましたら幸いです。
    TERANISHI Kimiko is an artist who uses photography as a medium, but the subject she photographs is her own body. However, unlike so-called self-portrait artists, in her work, parts of the body are photographed in close-up, enlarged, and image-processed before being printed. We hope you will take this opportunity to take note of this attempt to photograph the female body, which has long been treated as an object, by a woman herself, and to remake it into abstract art.

    作家ステートメント｜Statment

    写真という表現手段に出会えたことで、 私は自分の内側に存在する傷みに気づき、外側に出せるようになりました。 私はおそらく、この傷みがある限り作品を作り続けるのだろうと思います。 初個展をさせていただいてから４年が経過し、 今回再び展示する機会をいただけたことに深く感謝申し上げます。

    Discovering photography as the medium of expression has allowed me to become aware of the pain that exists inside of me and to bring it out into the open. I think I will probably continue to create works as long as this pain remains. It has been four years since my first solo exhibition, and I am deeply grateful to have been given the opportunity to exhibit again.
