「サンクチュアリ」とは「聖域」のことです。本来なら神社のご神域とか教会領とか、そうした場所を指すのだと思いますが、現代の画家たちにとっての聖地は、意外に身近な場所であったり、夢で見た景色であったりして、既存の宗教とは無関係な場所なのではないかという気がします。今回はそうしたそれぞれの聖地を描く三人の作家に集まってもらいました。絵画世界の聖地巡礼、どうぞごゆっくりお楽しみください。
Originally, "sanctuary" would refer to the sacred area of a shrine or the territory of a church. But I feel that for modern painters, sacred places are surprisingly familiar places or scenery seen in dreams, and they are places that has nothing to do with existing religions. This time, we have gathered together three artists who depict these sacred places. Please take your time and enjoy this pilgrimage to sacred places in the world of paintings.
