松原修平はまるで彫刻のような、厳しい面取りをした人物像を主に描いてきた作家ですが、ある時期からアプロプリエーション、既存作品からのイメージの流用を基盤に据えた絵画作品を制作するようになりました。今回はそうしたアプロプリエーションでも、古典絵画からイメージを借用しつつ、独特の解釈で激しいタッチに描き直された作品群を展開します。これまでの松原作品にはなかった新たな展開で、今回が当店での初個展となります。どなた様も是非ご注目ください。
MATSUBARA Shuhei is an artist who has mainly painted figures with severely chamfered faces, almost like sculptures, but at a certain point he began to create paintings based on appropriation of images from existing works. This time, he will be showcasing a group of appropriations that borrow images from classical paintings and repaint them with a unique interpretation and a bold touch. This is a new development that has not been seen in MATSUBARA's previous works, and this will be his first solo exhibition at our gallery. We hope you will all take notice.
