「ポストkawaii」は「kawaii」をさまさまに拡張しようとする作家たちを取り上げてきた当店のシリーズ企画ですが、今回は「多次元派」というサブタイトルがついています。
この言葉は2022年に東京で開催された「二次元派」というグループ展(残念ながら店主は未見ですが)にヒントを得たものです。この言葉はもともと中国語圏で生まれた言葉だそうですが、当店の「ポストkawaii」の作家たちは二次元にこだわっておらず、むしろマチエールやスケール感、社会的テーマなどの奥行きに興味を持っていることに逆に気付かされたところから、「多次元派」と題しています。
``Post Kawaii'' is a series project of our gallery that has featured artists who are trying to expand "kawaii" into various ways, and this time it has the subtitle "Multidimensionalism".
This phrase was inspired by a group exhibition called "2jigenha" held in Tokyo in 2022 (unfortunately, the owner has not seen it yet). This word is said to have originally originated in the Chinese-speaking world. Our "post-kawaii" artists are not obsessed with two-dimensionality, but rather are interested in the depth of material, scale, and social themes. I titled it "Multidimensionalism'' because I was made aware of this fact.
